Weil's Clothing's Guide to Picking Out the Right Jean for Your Body Type

Trying on several different pairs of jeans and still not finding one to suit you can be both frustrating and disheartening, especially for those who have seen a change in their figure since pregnancy. Our bodies constantly change as we age, but that doesn’t mean we should stop loving fashion. No matter what your shape is, you should feel comfortable and confident in whatever you’re wearing, and in today’s post, you can read a few top style tips for picking the perfect jean.

Be specific about your shape: First of all, it’s important that you understand the type of body shape you are, and don’t be shy about it. In order to get something that flatters you and shows your figure at its best, you need to identify your shape correctly. If you’re unsure of what your figure is, the most common ones are:

The Rectangle: The classic super model shape, you have extra height, long legs, and a straighter hip area.

The Hourglass: This body type has an equal bust and hip area, pulling in at the waist.

● \ _The Pear: _ You’ll have more curves around your hip and bum area if you’re a pear shape. You may find it difficult to balance your proportions with the right cut, but that’s why you’re here!

● \ _The Apple: _ This is an inverted triangle shape, where your broader shoulders and a smaller hip area make it difficult to pick jeans.

●__ Round: __Just because you carry a little extra around your tummy area doesn’t mean you have to miss out. Those with a round shape can still find the perfect jean.

What’s your usual style? Once you’ve got your shape all worked out, you can start to look for jeans that will fit in with your individual style. Everyone has a sense of fashion that they prefer, whether it’s the casual, hipster look, or smart, sleek lines that take your fancy. But how do you make sure that you pick a pair of jeans that fit your hips as well as your tastes?

Have you taken a shine to the Boyfriend, the Bootcut, or the Skinny? Will a high or a low rise be the right one for you? If all of this sounds like gibberish, consult a jean guide that breaks down each style for you, telling you which ones best suit your shape. For example, the hourglass figure looks best with skinny flares and higher rises, but round shapes should typically opt for trouser or boyfriend jeans to even out the shape, whilst maintaining a relaxed look.

Don’t forget to color match too though. Certain washes, colors and fabrics will either suit your shape, or accentuate parts that you’d rather hide, so it’s important to know which colors will get you compliments. Black will always be slimming, but a good alternative for summer is a royal blue.
